Another year has come around, and mabl is starting it off with a bang. Today, I’m delighted to share that mabl has been named a 2024 Best Place to Work by Built In Boston!
This year marks mabl’s fourth year on the list, once again joining an elite group of companies with supportive cultures, competitive compensation and benefits, robust DEI programs, and other people-first cultural offerings.
The Built In Boston winners are determined algorithmically using company data about compensation and benefits, but our culture is best reflected in employee tenure: 5 mablers will celebrate their seven year anniversary, 4 will celebrate their five year anniversary, 10 will recognize their four year anniversary, and 14 will mark their three year anniversary.
Considering that mabl celebrates its 7th birthday later this month, and that the average tenure for startup employees is two years, the data shows that mabl is building not just a great product, but a company at which people truly enjoy working.
With so many team members reaching major career milestones at mabl, our People Ops team has made a significant effort to nurture a welcoming and supportive environment. This involves investing in our robust hiring process, introducing new learning and development resources for all mablers, and finding creative ways to foster team connections in the office and virtually.
These investments start with the hiring process. Backed by our cross-functional DEI Committee, mabl routinely updates our hiring process for the most inclusive and welcoming interview experience possible. By incorporating the perspective of the Committee, which includes over 30 mablers from across the company, we ensure that hiring reflects a diverse range of thoughts and insights. Thanks to this commitment, every hiring process, regardless of the team involved, leads with transparency, communication, and a welcoming atmosphere.
The mabl team lives in 18 U.S. states, 4 countries, and 4 continents. Approximately half of the team is based in our headquarters in Boston, with notable clusters in Argentina, India, and Japan. Building relationships across continents and timezones isn’t always easy, but mabl has invested in a greater range of ways for our people to connect.
Our People Ops team works hard to build a calendar of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events that allow mablers to take a break from work. This includes everything from weekly tea times and happy hours to holiday celebrations, as well as regular lunch and learns.
In 2023, we also adopted Trova, a workplace experience tool that helps mablers connect over their passions, interests, and hobbies. For those who opt in, Trova allows people to build profiles expressing who they are outside of work and introduces teammates based on shared interests. This fosters a similar sense of community and connection as a fully in-office environment while still offering flexible work arrangements to the team.
With so many team member spending 3+ years with mabl, supporting career growth is paramount. I’m incredibly proud of the number of people that have been promoted, sometimes multiple times, over the course of their tenure here. As we bring more talented, driven people onto the mabl team, we’ve invested in additional resources to ensure we offer ongoing growth opportunities across the company.
In partnership with mablers, managers, and our People Ops team, mabl evaluated several platforms for expanded development opportunities across the company. Mablers have the ability to take courses across a variety of disciplines, including communication skills, AI, and leadership. We also host regular speakers to discuss critical topics like psychological safety, effective feedback, and others as part of company-wide educational events.
Though fast-growing companies like mabl are continuously evolving, I’m equally excited about the mabl pillars that have stayed consistent over the last seven years. Our core values: drive, insight, authenticity, and support, are still fundamental to everything we do here at mabl.
Every year mabl is recognized as a Built In Boston Best Place to Work, the award becomes more significant. It’s a positive sign that we’re making the right investment in our people, our programs, and our culture in ways that make a meaningful impact on mablers’ careers and growth. I’m honored and proud to see how we’re not just empowering software testers around the world, but our incredibly talented and supportive team.
