Like many of you, as we flip the calendar to 2021, we’ve taken some time to reflect on this past year. Obviously there’s a lot to talk about, but I’m sure you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see endless articles, blogs and videos capturing all the memories from a crazy year. In this post, I really just wanted to pick a few of our favorite highlights from 2020 that we look back on with both pride and nostalgia.
Product momentum continues
Product innovation is the cornerstone of most companies, but especially tech companies. Ours is no exception, and I’m sure yours isn’t either. Delivering new features, and improvements on existing features, is critical to success. Our product team has implemented a continuous integration pipeline - with quality testing embedded early and often - that has enabled them to push nearly 100 new product enhancements into production this past year. Some of the most notable include:
- New integrations with GitLab, CircleCI, Octopus Deploy, and Test Case Management tools
- The ability to create, edit, and run tests from your command line
- Select an element based on specific properties with enhanced finds
- Fine-tune criteria with wait-until steps and configurable finds
These are just a few, but you can view the full list of updates in the changlog; you can also sign up for our monthly product update newsletter to get updates directly in your inbox. We have some very exciting new capabilities coming in the next few months that we can’t wait to share with all of you! You can also check out the recording of Dan’s recent webinar for a sneak peek.
Together we built higher quality software in 2020
In looking at last year’s achievements, we were quite impressed by the work done by the entire mabl user community. Focused on testing their most important scenarios, our customers improved the quality of a wide variety of applications - everything from checkout carts to banking applications to product sign-up experiences. Here’s a snapshot of 2020!
- On average, teams have 13 members contributing to quality
- Individual tests ran an average of 100 times
- 14,000 test runs per team
- 17% of tests ran in browsers besides Chrome
So what does all this mean? With the help of mabl, you and your teams are working toward building stronger cultures of quality by automating more runs, testing before all or most of your features are released, and ensuring your applications are delivering an optimal experience to your customers across all platforms.
We’re lucky enough to call some of the most prominent global brands our customers. And even luckier that some of our most gracious customers publicly shared their mabl success stories last year. Here’s a few in case you missed them:
- Sensormatic Solutions rapidly automates UI tests, improves coverage, and cuts costs [story]
- Ritual's approach to customer-centric quality testing [video]
- Arch Insurance Group increases velocity and quality of releases [story]
- Riot Games spends more being human and less time executing repetitive tasks [video]
- NCR and Arch Insurance lead QA transformations at their organizations [video]
This past year we also had the opportunity to grow our mabl community with our first user conference, Experience 2020. While we would’ve preferred to get together in person, it was still a great event with some fantastic conversations, sessions, and a little bit of fun. Be on the lookout for similar half day events in the months ahead as well as another marquee event this fall.
Building a test automation business one day at a time
The story of mabl is still in the early chapters, and this past year has added some very interesting twists and turns. We continue to relish the opportunity to do the challenging work of solving the testing and quality problems of today’s high-velocity development teams. And we’re always delighted when our hard work earns little industry recognition along the way. In 2020, we were honored with a few awards: 50 Boston Startups to Watch in 2020, Best Codeless Testing Tools in 2020, and AI Breakthrough Awards Best AI-based Solution. mabl was also designated as a Strong Performer in the The Forrester Wave™: Continuous Functional Test Automation Suites, Q2 2020.
And last, but certainly not least, we welcomed our newest investor Presidio Ventures to the team. The growth of adoption in Japan has been tremendous the last few years, with brands like JapanTaxi, LOB Inc. (a Rakuten Group company), and Note using mabl to automate end-to-end testing. Our partnership with Presidio will help our team continue to be a leading testing solution for software teams in Japan and beyond. This new investment from Presidio complemented the additional funding received from one of our original investors, Amplify Partners. Sunil Dhaliwal, general partner at Amplify Partners said,
“Mabl’s traction, particularly in the enterprise, highlights that this market is ready for a SaaS leader, and mabl is well positioned to secure that leadership spot for the DevOps era."
Our team is primed and ready to add another exciting chapter to the mabl story in 2021. We look forward to working with new customers and partners, deepening relationships with our current customers, and continuing to chip away at the hardest quality engineering problems facing today’s high-velocity software development teams.
